Accessing the Ontogenesis Network Wiki
Using a Wiki is not hard, and most easily learned by doing it. See also HelpForBeginners, and/or try playing with WikiSandBox for a few minutes to learn much of what you need in just a few minutes.

This Wiki provides read/write access to any Wiki user whose name is listed in the page UserGroup. See also the page UserConfiguration.
1. New to the Ontogenesis Network Wiki?
If you are new to this Wiki, please perform the following steps:
Click the login link at the top of this page
Enter your name (using CamelCase)
Enter a password, password confirmation and email address
Click on the "Create profile" button
Now you should be able to view the rest of this site.
You should have a site administrator (see AdminGroup) add your login name to the list of users allowed to edit the Wiki pages, which is listed at UserGroup.
Once you have created an account, the wiki software can use web-browser cookies to automatically logon each time the site is accessed.
2. Creating a "home" page
As a registered user, you may create a home page. As well as providing relevant information about yourself, this can also be useful as a place to park links to work-in-progress documents which have not yet been linked in the main Wiki. To do this, click on the username link displayed at the top of any page.
3. Creating a new Wiki page
To create a new page, first you must create a link for that page by editing an existing page (see HelpOnLinking). Your "homepage" can be a convenient location for new page links; later, links can be placed in other pages where they may be helpful. Then click on that link (or a '?' displayed beside the link name, and you will be asked to create a new page and shown a list of templates that can be used for the that page. A simple template GeneralTemplate has been created to encourage a consistent page style for "ordinary" pages.
4. General comments about how to use a wiki
A Wiki is a collaborative site, anyone can contribute and share:
Edit any page by pressing Edit at the top or the bottom of the page
Create a link to another page with joined capitalized words (like WikiSandBox) or with ["quoted words in brackets"]
Search for page titles or text within pages using the search box at the top of any page
See HelpForBeginners to get you going, HelpContents for all help pages.
To learn more about what a WikiWikiWeb is, read about
WhyWikiWorks and the
WikiNature. Also, consult the
WikiWikiWebFaq.
To experiment with page editing to get a feel of how it works, please try editing WikiSandBox, rather than creating an empty page without any meaningful content.
